Kyrgyz Republic's Deputy Minister of Transport and Roads Mr. Talant Soltobaev and representatives from the Tourism Department, Ministry Economy, and Issyk-Kul regional administration, on 30 September 2020, attended the virtual meeting with the ABEC team to discuss the findings of the Economic Impact Assessment for the Almaty-Issyk Kul Alternative Road and elaborating the way forward. The assessment provides several options for alternative roads with tangible figures and credible estimations on the economic impact and financial feasibility for both countries. The need for conducting the Economic Impact Assessment was earlier raised by both governments at the ABEC Subcommittee meetings and Kyrgyz-Kazakh Intergovernmental meetings and coursed by the Almaty-Bishkek Economic Corridor Tourism Master Plan, which was published in February 2020. Country Director of ADB Kyrgyz Resident Mission Candice McDeigan delivered opening remarks and ABEC national coordinator Kylychbek Djakypov moderated the meeting.
