On 26 June, in Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic, the Asian Development Bank facilitated the Joint Kazakh–Kyrgyz Tourism Working Group Meeting under the Almaty–Bishkek Economic Corridor (ABEC). The meeting was aimed to review the updated ABEC Tourism Master Plan and to agree on priority actions for implementation. Kazakhstan and Kyrgyz Republic are rolling out a harmonized Accommodation Classification System, overseen by an Advisory Council that convened for the first time during the meeting. Also, they are also coordinating professional standards for the tourism sector. The heads of tourism agencies, Mr. Eduard Kubatov and Mr. Nurbol Baizhanov, signed the related agreements. ADB Country Director for the Kyrgyz Republic Mr. Zheng Wu welcomed the delegations and reaffirmed ADB’s support.
