On February 15-16, 2022, the first meeting of the Working Group on Trade and Economic cooperation between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Kyrgyz Republic was held in Almaty, co-chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan Mr. Bakhyt Sultanov and First Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic Mr. Arzybek Kozhoshev.

The main outcomes of the meeting:

- expansion of the range of supplied goods, including through the implementation of the Industrial Trade and Logistics Complex (ITLC) at the border near the Karasu-Ak-Tilek BCPs.

- implementation of projects and wholesale distribution centres on the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic.

- develop a draft Intergovernmental Agreement on the functioning and management mechanism of ITLC.

- Ensure the availability of electronic waybills for transported goods when exporting goods to the Kyrgyz Republic.

- installing monitors in working rooms to monitor the situation at the border checkpoints in real-time has been resolved.

- both parties announced the resumption from February 21, 2022, of regular passenger transportation by rail through the territory of Kazakhstan from the Kyrgyz Republic to the Russian Federation.

- holding the First Interregional Forum and the next meeting of the Business Council in 2022.
